The Ezeagu Smart Brains Scholarship is a social intervention scheme created in 2025 by Ezeagu LG under the leadership of Dr. Vita Ndu to empower the youths through education promotion. As an academic scholar who has coached many youths, Dr. Ndu prioritises education and believes in youth empowerment as a means for community development.

This scholarship shall be a yearly program that targets:

• SS3 students who are preparing for their Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).
• JAMBites who scored exceptionally high in their JAMB Examinations.
• Undergraduates in all the accredited Nigeria universities, studying courses of interest to Ezeagu LG.
• Postgraduate students who came out with 1st Class in their first degree from courses of interest.

The major purpose for this scholarship is to:

• Identify extra bright students from Ezeagu LG and support them financially.
• Reduce financial burden on parents, guardians, and students, thereby encouraging the students to concentrate more on their studies.
• Reduce truancy among students from Ezeagu LG.
• Consolidate our “Future Is Green” promise to Ndi Ezeagu.

Recall that Dr. Ndu noted that a Green Future is synonymous with a Sustainable Future, and “Quality Education” is GOAL 4 of the SDG goals of the United Nations.

This scholarship program is designed to use one stone and kill 9 birds in the SDG Goals.
The GOALs of particular interest are:

• GOAL 1 – No Poverty
• GOAL 2 – Zero Hunger
• GOAL 3 – Good Health and Well-being
• GOAL 4 – Quality Education
• GOAL 5 – Gender Equality
• GOAL 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
• GOAL 10 – Reduced Inequalities
• GOAL 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
• GOAL 17 – Partnership

This is a merit based program, as our core vision is on the long-term benefits to the beneficiary indigenes, their families, their communities, and Ezeagu LG at large.

The funding shall be on Public- Private Partnerships basis (PPPs), whereby the local government, companies within and outside Ezeagu LG, Ezeagu Big-Boys, Ezeagu rich daughters/wives, and Ezeagu friends and well-wishers are beckoned upon to lend their supports.

All donors would be duly publicised, and all donations well accounted for at the end of every program.

This maiden program shall have only 2 categories because of time and limited resources. But, subsequent programs would accommodate more categories.
